What this site is
hospiguide.org is a free, informational guide to U.S. hospital quality data. It republishes public CMS Care Compare datasets with plain-English explanations, together with educational articles about choosing a hospital, hospital costs and patient rights.
It is not a medical service, not a referral service, not a rating agency, and not affiliated with any government body. See our disclaimer.
Not medical advice
Nothing here is medical advice. Do not use this site to decide whether to seek, delay or refuse care. In an emergency call 911 — do not spend time comparing hospitals.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is". We make no warranty that information here is accurate, complete, or current. Hospital records change without notice, CMS publishes on a quarterly lag, and the underlying federal data contains errors we cannot detect or correct.
You are responsible for verifying anything you rely on. Every hospital page links to Medicare.gov Care Compare for that purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, hospiguide.org is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from reliance on information published here, including any decision about where to seek care, which hospital to use, or what a treatment will cost. Where the law does not permit excluding liability, our liability is limited to the minimum the law allows.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site in a way that degrades it for other users. The underlying data is public — take it from data.cms.gov instead, where it is designed for bulk access.
- Attempt to breach, probe or circumvent the site's security.
- Republish our editorial content as your own.
- Present our pages as official Medicare or CMS material.
- Use the site to send unsolicited communications to listed hospitals.
- Use the data to imply that we endorse, rate or recommend any hospital. We do not, and misrepresenting that is a misuse of this site.
Hospital data and intellectual property
Hospital records are public-domain works of the U.S. federal government. Our editorial content, measure explanations, labels, national median calculations, page design and organisation of that data are ours.
Listing is automatic and based solely on public CMS certification records. It is not an endorsement, and no hospital pays to appear, to rank higher, or to have a measure removed. A hospital that wants to change the information shown here must correct the underlying record with CMS; we do not edit federal data and we will not remove accurate measures on request.
Advertising
The site carries display advertising. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content, which hospitals appear, or how they are ordered. See our editorial policy.

We link to third-party sites, chiefly government sources, for verification. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content. Links are not endorsements.
